The Petal Dress

Finally some Easter dress pictures!  This one is the petal dress that my youngest daughter fell in love with from a Pinterest post from http://icandy-handmade.com/2012/01/tutorial-petal-dress-finally.html.  Thank you so much!  It was time consuming, but well worth it.  She loves it!

Spring Break

Spring break brings with it the opportunity to get some sewing accomplished. Top priority include Easter dresses, an Easter tradition I have been able to keep since my oldest daughter was born. That's been 10 years! Wow, has time flown by. This is the first year we haven't color coordinated. It's a little sad but the girls are getting older. (Pictures to follow after Easter morning.)

This spring break I've also been working on baby gifts. This jiffy little diaper bag and burp cloth are for a friend at work who is expecting.

1920s Style Doll Dress

It's costume design time again for the school musical! This year is set in the roaring 20s. I've been researching patterns and modified one to fit an 18" doll. Now to adjust the pattern to fit middle school girls. It's been a fun and productive afternoon.

Baby Diaper Wreath

I recently tried my hand at making a diaper wreath as a baby shower gift for a lovely young lady at church.

I began with a cross-stitch hoop for my form. I wrapped the diapers around the hoop and tied them with tulle. 

I then added a selection of small items. I used a travel bathing set. 

I secured these items with rubber bands all around the wreath. 

Finally, I added some "lollipops" made from baby wash rags and spoons. 

I think the final product turned out well and was well received. 

Layered T-shirt maxi skirt

So I've noticed that these maxi skirts are kind of popular... I tried my hand at my own version. I found three old t-shirts to cut up and this is my final product.

New shoes!

The girls enjoyed making shoes for their dolls tonight. Thanks to You Tube and Pinterest for inspiration. 

Father's Day

This is my version of a Pinterest gift I found last year that I wanted to make for my Dad.  I finally got it done and gave it to him for Father's day.  If I could do it again, I would have been more careful about the kids all wearing a light colored shirt.  (I'm no photographer, obviously.)
